I, for one, regard “liberal vs. conservative” to be akin to a hodgepodge of non-linear one dimensional thought. Hillary and Barack both do have meritorious qualities. I’m so glad that Karl Rove isn’t running the show.. there’s hope! Where do you (Jen) find the time to read, write and edit so much (here, 9 Queens, Chess Life)? You’re amazing.

I’ve noticed that a large majority of top flight chess players tend to be rabidly liberal in their views. Are there any staunchly conservative chess players? What makes someone incredibly intelligent, rational, logical, practical, and so on over the chess board a foaming at the mouth, emotional, irrational liberal when it comes to politics? I don’t mean that you specifically are these things, but I’ve heard many players go from rationally explaining a chess position to the next minute looking like they’re going to have coronary and screaming at the top of their lungs if Bush is shown on TV…

Why do you sell McCain so short. No one has paid higher dues than he has and no other candidate has the experience. As I get ready to leave for Iraq, me and my troops are almost all supporting McCain because he will care for us better than Obama who has no idea what’s going on over there. Besides, McCain is for freedom & liberty, Obama is for government control…an easy choice.
